“The world we see, the things we touch, the images we capture in our minds, everything around us...textures, colours, materials, individual items, complex structures, human bodies and nature…How many different ways are there to see the world? Starting point can be anything existing and the process runs through infinite perspectives, experimentation and a personal point of view to depict reality with a creative twist”

A bit more about slice of life project…
3D laser scanning
3D laser scanning is the process of analysing a real-world object or environment to collect data on its shape and possibly its appearance. It is used broadly for undertaking accurate measurements (surveying) in architectural, industrial, archaeological and other sectors for the purpose of generating 3D models and 2D plans.
Point cloud
Point cloud is a data set of 3D points in the space. It is usually produced by a 3D laser scanner which captures points on the surface of its surrounding objects. Laser scanners have the ability to record millions of points in seconds resulting in a highly detailed 3D mesh of points, know as the point cloud.
The idea behind slice of life project
Slice of life project is experimenting with 3D laser scanning technology beyond its surveying use, looking at the aesthetic result of the 3D visual mesh of points. The main idea of the brand is to accurately capture real-world objects and produce unique point cloud images based on the creator’s artistic expressions and view of life.
Brand name
Inspiration comes from the usual practice of ‘slicing’ (creating sections) the data when manipulating the point cloud. Moreover, the brand is about art prints depicting the real world. According to Oxford Dictionary ‘Slice of life’ is a realistic representation of everyday experience in a movie, play, or book. Looking upon these notions Slice of life Project was born.
Aesthetic approach
Beyond the technical aspects of 3D laser scanning technology, the creative process evolves through exploring different views of everyday objects, people, the natural and the built environment. Subtle colours and textures are used to complement the point cloud image. The end result is intentionally simple, calming and delicate.
Product details
Art prints are printed on giclée fine art paper Hahnemühle Photorag (308 gsm), the surface has minimal texture with a chalky smooth cotton feel which creates smooth colour gradients. All posters are rolled and delivered in a triangular tube safe for transport. It is recommended that you frame your art work for display and protection.
